One killed, several missing as suspected herdsmen launch fresh attacks on Benue communities

Tragedy has hit Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following renewed attacks by armed herdsmen, resulting in the death of one person and leaving several others unaccounted for.

According to reports, the assailants stormed Tsekar village in Ukohol, located within the Nyiev Council Ward, where a resident, Mr. Tyough William, was reportedly killed.

In a separate but related incident, a group of Tiv travelers was ambushed along the Yogbo-Gungu Aze road. The victims were on their way back to Ortese from Yogbo when they were attacked.

Local sources disclosed that one of the travelers, Mr. Udam Dogo, remains missing. Alarm was raised when an unknown herder allegedly answered his phone, heightening concerns about his fate.

The exact number of casualties and missing persons has yet to be officially verified.

When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Udeme Edet, said she was not aware of the incident at the time of the report.
