Ooni’s new wife steps out for first time at Olojo Festival

The annual Olojo Festival began in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Saturday, when the newlywed Ooni of Ife, Mariam Ajibola, walked out with her husband, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for the first time since they were wed.

In all-white apparel, Mariam, who attended the ceremony with her husband and other dignitaries such as Osun State Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi and Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola, among others, was seen conversing with the Ooni as several groups paid respects to him.

The Olojo festival at Ile-Ife, where Ooni will wear the “Are crown” for the first time as Ooni’s bride, is being attended by the new Yeyeluwa of Ife.

The new queen had not gone on any public outings since her mother and other family members from Kogi and Kwara states led her into Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6.
