Orji Kalu wins Senator of the Year award

In the upcoming Leadership Excellence Awards, Senator Orji Kalu has been named the ‘Best Senator of the Year in Constituency Projects’ for 2022.

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Kalu, who represents the Abia North Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber, received 283, 011 votes.

He won a nationwide online election by defeating Senator Adetokumbo Abiru, who received 83,204 votes, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who received 128,330 votes, and Senator Barau Jubrin, who received 72,276 votes.

He will shortly get the prized award, which has the support of the African Union and African Film Institute.
Over 50 roads have been built in Abia North in three years thanks to the former Governor of Abia State and first-term Senator.

Senator Kalu, who was elected in 2019, has continued to be praised for the infrastructure and empowerment projects he brought to Abia North during his first tenure in the Senate.

The construction of 2.5 km of rural roads connecting the five local governments in Abia North, the renovation of schools and hospitals, the provision of educational materials to students, and the distribution of more than 1000 sewing machines, power generation units, and motorcycles to farmers and artisans are just a few of the projects made possible by Kalu.
