Ortom congratulates Akume on SGF appointment

Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has congratulated Senator George Akume on being appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Recall that Ortom boasted in 2019 that he had retired Akume, his erstwhile leader, from politics after Akume lost his bid to return to the senate.

Senator Orke Jev, one of Akume’s men in the Peoples Democratic Party, won the 2019 election, and Akume went on to be appointed a minister under the rule of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his congratulatory message which was signed and made available to journalists in Makurdi on Saturday by his media aide, Terver Akase, Ortom stated that the appointment of Senator Akume is a well deserved one and described the former governor as a seasoned administrator whose wealth of experience will add immense value to the present government.

He commended President Tinubu for honouring Benue by appointing a son of the state to the exalted position of SGF.

“His Excellency, Ortom prays for God’s guidance to enable Senator Akume serve the country diligently and successfully,” an excerpt from the statement read.
