Actor and politician Desmond Elliot has acknowledged former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole for paving the way for his entry into politics.

Elliot revealed that Oshiomhole facilitated his meeting with President Bola Tinubu, during which he expressed his political aspirations.

He said in an interview with Chude Jideonwo: “One day, Oshiomhole took me to Asiwaju and said,” This is my son, and he is interested in politics. Asiwaju saw me, said he knows me and he just liked me, still surprised.”

Desmond also shared his experience contesting against fellow actor Olumide Oworu in the 2023 elections.

According to him, he wasn’t upset with Olumide but felt hurt by veteran colleagues who endorsed his opponent.

He said: “I wasn’t upset with him, I was hurt by the veterans who endorsed him.”

Desmond Elliot shared a harrowing experience during the 2020 #EndSARS protests, narrowly escaping an attack by unidentified assailants.

The protests, which sought the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over allegations of extrajudicial killings and extortion, marked a tumultuous period in Nigeria.

As a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond faced criticism for referring to Nigerian youths as “children” during a plenary session, a comment that stirred controversy amidst the #EndSARS movement.
