Osinbajo pens ‘special appreciation’ to doctors, others on successful surgery

Following a successful operation on his right femur (thigh bone) on Sunday, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo expressed his gratitude to the administration of Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos.

Osinbajo, who was admitted on Saturday, July 16, was believed to be recovering and “will be discharged within a few days,” according to his physicians.

In his gratitude message, the Vice President tweeted, “My deep gratitude to everyone for your get-well wishes and prayers following my surgery.

“And special appreciation to the amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and the management of the Duchess International Hospital Lagos, for providing such excellent care. God bless you all.”

On July 20, the management of Duchess International Hospital said Osinbajo was “receiving physiotherapy and mobilising quite well on crutches.”

This is stated in a press statement headlined “Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja gives update on VP Osinbajo’s condition” and signed by the hospital’s medical director, Dr. Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi.

The statement read, “The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON continues to make good progress at the Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja.

“Following a successful operation to repair a fracture of his right femur (thigh bone) on Saturday, His Excellency is now receiving physiotherapy and mobilising quite well on crutches.

“The aim of this stage of treatment is to reduce weight-bearing on his right leg while promoting healing and rehabilitation towards his usual active state.

“All aspects of the Vice President’s post-operative care have proceeded satisfactorily so far. His multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and allied health practitioners are extremely pleased with his progress.

“We will continue to update the public on the progress of his treatment.”
