The Osun State House of Assembly on Monday approved the bill modifying certain sections of the state local government law.

The bill, titled “Osun State Local Government Amendment No 2 Bill 2026,” was passed following its third reading during the Assembly’s plenary session in Osogbo.

Earlier, the Assembly’s Committee Chairman on Public Account, Mr Lawal Bamidele, had presented and submitted the committee’s report on the bill along with proposed recommendations.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Adewale Egbedun, urged members to adopt the report, while Mr Babajide Adewumi, the Majority Leader, formally moved the motion for adoption.

Adewumi also moved the motion for the bill’s third reading, which was subsequently approved.

After the passage of the bill, Egbedun stated that official copies would be sent to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his assent.

The Amendment Bill seeks to revise the Osun State Local Government Law Cap 72 Vol. IV, Laws of Osun State 2002, among other related provisions.

The House concluded its sitting and adjourned until March 2.
