The Peoples Democratic Party’s victory in the governor’s race in Osun State, according to Uche Secondus, the party’s former national chairman, was a well-deserved triumph.
Senator Ademola Adeleke was named the new governor of Osun State, according to a statement from Secondus.
Ike Abonyi, the special adviser on media for Secondus, signed the statement with the heading “Osun Decides: Secondus Congratulates Adeleke.”
Adeleke defeated incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who received 375,027 votes, to win the state’s governorship election in 2022, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
On Sunday morning, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, the INEC’s chief returning officer for Osun, revealed the outcome.
The statement partly read, “The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus has congratulated Governor- elect Senator Ademola Adeleke on his well deserved victory at the Saturday’s Osun state Governorship elections.
“Prince Secondus said that the victory is a clear affirmation and demonstration of the people’s goodwill in appreciation of the efforts of the Adelekes in the development of the state.
“The former National also lavished praises for all those who contributed greatly to the sweet victory in particular, the PDP 2023 Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”
Secondus congratulated the Osun people in the statement for upholding democracy with their steadfast resolve.
“By this brave and courageous act, Osun people have shown their determination to take their collective destiny in their own hands and for this PDP and all lovers of democracy are proud of them,” he said
