Over 700 Catholic priests held a peaceful protest on Thursday during the burial of one of their colleagues who was killed by bandits in Kaduna State over the weekend.

Reverend Father Vitus Borogo, the Catholic Community Chaplain at Kaduna Polytechnic, was murdered on his property in Kujama, Chikun Local Government Area, Nigeria.

Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kaduna, Most Reverend Matthew Ndagoso, bemoaned the country’s growing insecurity at the event held on Thursday at Queen of Apostle Catholic Church.

He claimed that Nigeria has become a failed state under President Muhammadu Buhari due to the country’s security condition. The cleric decried that Nigerians live in perpetual fear and have become hopeless due to the rising attacks and killings, while the Federal Government seems to be incapacitated to tackle the problem.

According to Bishop Ndagoso, the time has come for the government to establish state police in order to protect the vulnerable communities against bandits attacks since those saddled with the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens have failed to do so.
