Owo attack: South-West doctors demand arrest of perpetrators

The leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association’s South-West zone has requested that the perpetrators of the killing in Owo, Ondo State, be apprehended.

The medical personnel condemned the incident and urged their colleagues in Ondo and neighbouring states to provide the necessary health care services.

On Sunday, suspected terrorists stormed St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, killing several worshipers.

At their South-West emergency meeting, the medical doctors issued a statement signed by the zonal caucus Chairman, Dr. Ogunlaja Oladayo, and Caucus Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Salako.

The statement read partly, “The leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association, South-West zone, received with great shock the killing of innocent citizens in Owo, Ondo State.

“This has become recurrent with no proactive measures to tackle this ugly trend.

“We sincerely condemn this ugly incident in its totality.

“We call on the government and the security apparatus to swing into action and fish out these unscrupulous elements in our community.

“We sympathise with the government and the good people of Ondo State on this great loss.

“We wish the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and speedy recovery to the injured.

“We call on our members in Ondo and neighboring states to continue to provide the needed health care service.”
