The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) general overseer, Enoch Adeboye, has demanded that Seaking, the TikToker who was arrested for cyberbullying, be released.
In December, Seaking—real name Olumide Ogunsanwo—was taken into custody on charges of treason, cyberstalking, and behaviour likely to disturb the peace.
This came after he posted a video to social media in which he seemed to disparage Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector general of police, Babajide-Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, and President Bola Tinubu.
Despite being released on bail, he was arrested again last week before a magistrate court in Ogba, Lagos, for allegedly insulting the pastor on social media.
In a December TikTok post, Seaking criticised Adeboye for urging his followers to fast for 100 days in support of Nigeria, calling the request “stupid.”
On social media, the video sparked a wave of condemnation. Adeboye disclosed that he had been made aware of Seaking’s online taunts against him during a recent Holy Ghost conference.
Nonetheless, the cleric made it apparent that he did not find the remarks offensive and instead viewed them as a prophecy coming true.
Adeboye said he had asked his church members to fast for 100 days, and Seaking’s reaction simply manifested God’s words.
He also urged the parties involved to release Seaking, emphasizing that the social media critic is “fulfilling prophecy”.
“I heard that there was someone who lambasted me. What was my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I did not ask him. I did not even ask anyone who is not a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast. It was only my children. But God said that it will happen,” he said.
“I was told that some people got so angry and they went and arrested the fellow. Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy. For my children, glory ahead.”
