Pastor Adeboye rains down fire on killers of Ekiti traditional rulers

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday night, rained down fire on the killers of traditional rulers in Nigeria.

Those who try to meddle with the country’s monarchy, according to the octogenarian preacher, would never experience peace.

“The fire of God will consume all those trying to mess around with our traditional rulers,” the influential pentecostal preacher declared during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service programme tagged, ‘From The Mountain Top 2’.

“Because as far as God is concerned, traditional rulers are anointed,” said Adeboye, the convener of an annual convention for royal fathers in the country.

In a curious juxtaposition to the nation’s pervasive growing insecurity, ruthless raiders assassinated three traditional chiefs in the space of four days.

On Monday, while returning from a meeting at Irele-Ekiti in Ekiti State, South-West Nigeria, Oba David Ogunsola, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, were both killed.

The Olukoro of Koro, General Segun Aremu (retd), was brutally murdered on Thursday in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State by the gunmen, who also kidnapped some teachers and students in the related incidents.

On Thursday night, the retired army general was shot and killed at his palace.

Two traditional rulers in Ikole Ekiti were mauled to death on Monday in the neighboring town of Koro. The two communities’ shared farm boundaries give rise to worries about the frightening extent of traditional rulers being killed by cold-blooded gunmen.

Security forces, including the police, have sent an armored vehicle and a helicopter to Ekiti and promised to apprehend those responsible. Meanwhile, Nigerians are still calling for prompt justice and a stop to the pandemic of kidnappings and killings in their nation.
