PDP crisis beyond Atiku, all members have a hand – Zamfara Gov

The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has attributed the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a clash of ego.

Speaking with journalists in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara, on Wednesday, Lawal said all leaders of the main opposition party are to be blamed for the crisis.

“Everybody has their own issue. It is not just about Atiku Abubakar. It is beyond him,” he said.

“It is an internal problem within the PDP, and we are making a conscious effort. I think it is about people’s egos — everybody. No exception.”

In May, Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of the PDP, expressed a similar during the party’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting.

Damagum said the “problems” in the party are self-inflicted, adding that masterminds would be expelled.

“And this is one of them. People are outside, waiting to see whether we can surmount all these self-inflicted problems and somehow engineered from some quarters,” he said.

The opposition party is grappling with a deepening internal crisis, resulting in mass detection of its members to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
