PDP disqualifies two Presidential candidates after screening

Two of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential aspirants have been disqualified by the party’s presidential screening committee.

Sen. David Mark, the committee’s chairman, announced this on Friday following the committee’s screening of the party’s 17 aspirants.

Sen. Mark did not identify the candidates who were disqualified.

He stated that they did not meet the requirements for the position for which they were applying.

Candidates who are disqualified are expected to forfeit the N40 million they paid for expressions of interest and nomination forms.

According to one of the aspirants – Sen Anyim Pius Anyim – the screening was intended to verify the candidates’ membership and financial status, academic credentials, and compliance with other constitutional requirements for presidential candidates.
