Governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party platform will meet former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, today.
The attempt to impeach the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, caused instability in the state on Monday, when the governor’s loyalists stormed the assembly building in protest.
The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, praised President Bola Tinubu for intervening in the political crisis in a communiqué read following a meeting of the group at the Oyo State Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday.
The forum in a statement by its Director-General, Cyril Maduabum, on Wednesday, disclosed that the decision to visit Wike was reached at the forum’s meeting on Tuesday.
Maduabum explained that the visit is for reconciliation and mediation purposes.
The statement read in part ” The Chairman of the Forum, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, hereby requests member Governors to converge at his residence, No 1 Miriam Aloma Muktar Street, Asokoro, opposite Rivers State Governors Lodge at 10.45 am to accompany him for the visit.”
The visit is slated to hold in the FCT Minister’s office, by 11am.
