PDP, NNPP Rep members leave parties, officially join APC

Three opposition members of the House of Representatives officially announced their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during Thursday’s plenary session.

The defectors include Oluwole Oke from Osun State, who moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Kabiru Hassan Rumrum and Sani Abdullahi from Kano State, both of whom left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the APC.

Earlier, Rumrum had publicly declared his resignation from the NNPP and return to the APC during a meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Similarly, Oke had announced his departure from the PDP in Osun State, citing his intention to join the APC.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen formally confirmed their defections during the plenary, bringing the total number of lawmakers who have switched parties since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly to 30.

Of these 30 defections, 27 legislators joined the APC from the PDP, Labour Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), and NNPP.
