The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has convened an emergency meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The closed-door meeting, taking place on Tuesday, follows a wave of defections within the party’s ranks and strongholds, as well as ongoing internal crises.
Last week, the party faced significant setbacks as its former vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection led to the collapse of the PDP’s structure in Delta State, with the Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, state commissioners, local government chairmen, and grassroots machinery also moving en masse to the APC after a private meeting in Asaba.
