The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four of its national officers for one month. Those affected include the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; the Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and the National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature.
The suspension followed a judgment of the Federal High Court on Friday, which halted the party’s planned national convention.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, informed journalists in Abuja on Saturday that the decision arose from an emergency meeting of the NWC held earlier in the day.
Ologunagba explained that the suspended officers had been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action, adding that they would cease to perform their duties throughout the suspension period.
He further stated that, in line with Section 36(2) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), the Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo, would serve as Acting National Secretary.
In addition, the National Director of Legal Services has been instructed to oversee the operations of the Legal Department during the suspension of both the National Legal Adviser and the Deputy National Legal Adviser.
