The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has achieved a sweeping victory in the recently concluded Zamfara State local government elections, winning all 14 chairmanship seats and every councillorship position.
The Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Bala Aliyu, announced the results on Sunday morning.
Speaking to journalists after the collation exercise in Gusau, Aliyu confirmed that PDP candidates triumphed in all local government areas, including Gusau, Kaura-Namoda, Maru, Talata Mafara, and Anka.
He described the elections as free, fair, and credible, attributing the successful conduct of the polls to the combined efforts of security agencies, election officials, and voters.
Wadatau Madawaki, the PDP’s representative at the collation center, expressed satisfaction with the results, calling them a strong endorsement of the party’s leadership and commitment to Zamfara State’s development.
He urged the newly elected local government chairmen to align with Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission initiative to advance the state’s progress.
Independent observers commended the peaceful conduct of the elections, noting the enhanced security arrangements that facilitated a smooth electoral process.
