Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, met once more with Olusegun Mimiko, the former governor of Ondo State, and Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State.

At Wike’s private mansion in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the group also had a meeting on Monday night with prominent politicians like former Cross River Governor Donald Duke, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, and a host of others.

On his Twitter feed, Mimiko posted a photo of himself with the aforementioned lawmakers and commented that it was wonderful to spend some time with them.

He tweeted, “Nice to share some time last night with @GovWike @Donald_Duke @PeterObi @HEDankwambo @GovSamuelOrtom
@GovernorIkpeazu, Mohammed Adoke SAN and many other friends.”

The meeting was held in Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital of Rivers, according to The PUNCH, despite the fact that the former governor did not provide a cause for it.

The previous week, on Thursday, August 11, 2022, Obi had met Mimiko. Neither of the lawmakers disclosed the purpose of the meeting.

Earlier this year, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate paid a visit to Wike.

The lengthy meeting took place behind closed doors at the governor’s home in Port Harcourt.

Although the meeting’s outcome was unknown, images posted online show the two lawmakers shaking hands in front of Governor Wike’s house.

Obi’s first trip to Wike occurred amid rumors that the governor could leave the Peoples Democratic Party due to the aftermath from the party’s presidential primaries and Atiku Abubakar’s failure to select the governor of Rivers as his running mate for the general elections of 2023.
