Peter Obi, Oladips, others top list of Google’s most searched individuals in Nigeria for 2023

Actress Moyo Lawal, artiste, Oladipupo Oladimeji aka Oladips, and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi top the list of Google’s 2023 Year in Search for Nigeria.

Also featured on the roster are Hilda Balci, Mudryk, Mr Ibu, Simon Ekpa, Sam Larry, Anita Brown, and Esther Raphael.

In Google’s recently unveiled annual analysis, Nigerians displayed heightened interest in local politics and lifestyle.

The prominence of these individuals at the top of the list, however, comes as no surprise.

Actress Moyo Lawal gained widespread attention when her intimate video circulated online, while rapper Oladips made a significant impact on the Nigerian entertainment scene in 2023, reportedly making a ‘resurrection’ of sorts.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi took a leading role in the 2023 election process, with his ‘Obidient Movement’ becoming a nationwide phenomenon.

Similarly, the late Yoruba actor Murphy Alabi, actor and film producer Saint Obi, and singer Mohbad ranked as the most searched for deceased individuals this year.

Claiming the top spot in the 2023 list of trending musicians is Asake, closely trailed by rapper Shallipopi and singer Khaid.

Asake’s track “Lonely at the Top” currently holds the position of the most searched song.

The searches for “Gangs of Lagos,” “Shanty Town,” and “Soso lyrics,” topping the charts in the categories of movies, video series, and songs respectively, indicate a significant engagement of Nigerians in entertainment throughout the year.

Among the most popular queries in 2023 were “What is fuel subsidy?”, “Who won the 2023 presidential election?”, and “Who is the governor of Kano state?”. These inquiries underscored Nigerians’ keen interest in the political and economic landscape of their nation, with Google Search serving as a valuable tool for exploring and understanding their concerns.’
