In a situation report on the explosion at Adeyi Estate in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, the South West Zonal Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) attributed the incident to Improved Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The Agency’s Southwest Zonal Office reported that a distress alert regarding the explosion was received at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Bodija GRA, located behind Ace Mall in Ibadan.

The zonal coordinator reported that response agencies were swiftly dispatched to the site of the explosion. Upon reaching the scene, NEMA observed what appeared to be a suspected explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), impacting over 20 houses.

The agency couldn’t confirm casualty figures, and ongoing search and rescue operations were in progress.

Stakeholders, as indicated in the situation report, included NPF, NSCDC, DSS, SEMA, Nigeria Army, Federal and State Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross, State Ministry of Environment, and Amotekun Corps.

Additional resources are being mobilized to support the ongoing operations. The search and rescue operation was temporarily halted for responders to regroup, resuming at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday. Security has been heightened in the area, and efforts are underway to secure additional support for seamless operations.

The report assures that the situation is now under control, with ongoing arrangements to ensure the operation proceeds smoothly.
