Ukraine: Third batch of Nigerians from Budapest arrives Abuja

The Nigerian government has evacuated another batch of Nigerians from Budapest, the Hungary, the third of Nigerian nationals fleeing from the war in Ukraine.

Charter flights by Max Air and Air Peace had brought in the stranded Nigerians, mostly students from Bucharest and Warsaw.

Max Air lifted the first set on Thursday.

The students arrived Abuja on Thursday. Air Peace arrived with its batch of 183 evacuees on Friday morning.

“The third batch of Nigerians from #Ukraine arrive Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja at about 11:50pm local time from Budapest, Hungary,” it tweeted.

Amb. Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who announced the evacuation plans said the stranded Nigerians would be evacuated from Romania, Poland and Hungary, via Max Air and Air Peace flights.

According to him, 650 Nigerians registered with the embassy in Hungary: 350 in Poland: 940 in Romania and 150 in Slovakia.

“The capacity and routes of the airlines are as follow: Max Air to Romania 560 persons, Air Peace to Poland 365 persons and Air Peace to Hungary 360 persons”

Aduda did not indicate which of the two airlines will go to Slovakia.
