This information was shared through an official statement on the Nigerian Army’s official X platform on Saturday, November 4.

According to the statement, this operation was carried out based on credible intelligence and represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of OPSH to combat the illegal proliferation of weapons and ensure safety and security.

The statement explained, “The discovery of the weapon factory was also the result of a meticulously executed intelligence-led operation conducted by the troops, leading to the substantial recovery of cache of automatic weapons and related equipment that were being produced and distributed to other states, thereby fueling the crisis in Plateau and in Southern Kaduna.”

“The recovered items include six AK-47 rifles, four sub-machine guns, 11 AK rifle bodies, a pistol, and seven AK-47 bridge blocks.”

“Others include four AK 47 rifle magazines, 210 recoil springs for AK 47 rifles, seven rifle butts, eight rifle muzzles, nine piston assemblies, as well as five cartridge housings. Also recovered were one drilling machine set and a hand filling machine.”

Additionally, two individuals, Michael Dung, aged 33, and Yusuf Pam, aged 43, were apprehended for their direct participation in the illicit weapon distribution and marketing activities.

The statement also emphasized that these arrests serve as a strong signal that the unlawful manufacturing and trafficking of arms will face zero tolerance, and anyone engaged in such activities will be held responsible for their actions. It further noted that the OPSH leadership, in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, will persist in their efforts to ensure that those responsible for promoting criminal activities and their associates are fully subject to legal consequences.
