Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday welcomed the newly appointed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, and pledged to collaborate closely with her to implement policies that benefit the people of Lagos.

The governor, along with his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, received Meranda and other principal officers of the House shortly before the weekly State Executive Council meeting.

Meranda assumed the role of Speaker last Monday following the removal of her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, by House members over allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement.

Meranda presided over her first sitting on Friday, setting up new leadership and a seven-man Selection Committee.

Speaking during the courtesy visit at his office in Alausa, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu led the speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where the Speaker and executive members pledged to continue a good work relationship.

“During the courtesy visit, the Speaker, her principal officers, and members of the Executive Council reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship.

“This alignment between the Executive and Legislative arms ensures that Lagos remains a model of excellence in governance. We will build on the successes of the past and work tirelessly to deliver transformational progress across all sectors. Together, we will continue to implement policies and projects that deliver on our Greater Lagos vision,” Sanwo-Olu wrote on X.com.
