Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Kano on Thursday night.
The visit was disclosed in a statement issued by Saifullahi Hassan, Kwankwaso’s media aide, who said the former Kano governor met Obasanjo at the residence where the ex-president is staying during his official trip to the state.
According to the statement, the meeting created an opportunity for cordial discussions and exchanges between both leaders.

Kwankwaso and Obasanjo are said to share a long-standing political relationship spanning more than a decade.
During Obasanjo’s administration, Kwankwaso served as Minister of Defence from 2003 to 2007 after completing his first tenure as governor of Kano State.

Despite belonging to different political camps at various times, both politicians have maintained mutual respect over the years.
The statement also noted that Obasanjo is currently in Kano on an official assignment.

Kwankwaso was accompanied during the visit by the NDC governorship candidate for Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
“His Excellency, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, PhD, FNSE, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, this night paid a courtesy visit to a statesman and former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, at his temporary residence in Kano,” the statement read.

Hassan added that the visit provided room for warm interactions between the former president and the NDC delegation.
“The visit provided an opportunity for warm exchanges, with Sen. Kwankwaso accompanied by His Excellency Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the NDC Governorship Candidate for Kano State,” he said.
No further details regarding the discussions were made public.
