The Lagos State Government has deployed members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to the streets in anticipation of the nationwide hunger and hardship protests set to begin on August 1.
A significant police presence, including officers from the RRS and Task Force, was observed patrolling various streets around the state on Wednesday.
The patrol route started from Alausa, Ikeja, passing through the old Tollgate, Ojota, Ogudu, and Iyana Oworo, and extended to the 3rd Mainland Bridge area.
Some officers were also seen marching through the streets of Lekki to the Lekki Tollgate area.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, urged Nigerians on Wednesday to refrain from the planned nationwide protests amid the ongoing economic crisis.
During a press briefing in Abuja, Akume emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is actively working to address the numerous challenges facing the nation.
