The spokesman of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun State Command, ASCI Abdullahi A Maiwada has won the 2020 World Customs Organisation (WCO) Merit Award.
Maiwada won the prestigious award during the 2020 International Customs Day held on Sunday, January, 26.
The theme for this year’s edition was “Customs fostering sustainability for people, prosperity and the planet.” This is to demonstrate the contribution of Customs towards “sustainable future” of the world through consideration of social, economic, health and environmental concerns while discharging their duties.
Speaking on the special recognition, Maiwada who dedicated the award to all Officers of Nigeria Customs Service Public Relations Unit and Ogun I Area Command, said he was humbled by the untiring efforts of the management of the NCS at the state and national levels during the screening.
“To this end, I will like to register my appreciation to God Almighty for sparing my life and guiding me towards this path of success. I will also like to appreciate the management of Nigeria Customs Service, My Customs Area Controller (Compt OM Agbara), screening committees (at Headquarters and command levels) whom at different stages of thorough screening find me worthy of this nomination. My appreciation goes to National PRO (DC JO Attah) and his able team for giving me the opportunity and unconditional mentorship in my practice of this noble profession called Public Relations. My deep heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Officers and Men of NCS Ogun I Command for doing a great job and creating scenes I strategically amplified in my capacity as the spokesperson for the Commmand in the past three years.
My words of appreciation will be inconclusive without recognizing the role of my parents who laid the solid foundation i am leveraging on today. My sincere appreciation goes to my wife, family and friends. May God continue to bless you abundantly. To the fourth estate of the realm and my esteem colleagues the gentlemen of the press, your are indeed wonderful, you have impacted on me, aided my job and sharpened my understanding of Media Relations.
