On Sunday, April 9, the Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State reopened for religious services, ten months after it was attacked by gunmen.

Recall that on June 5, 2022, gunmen assaulted the church and killed some worshippers while injuring others.

Rotimi Akeredolu, the state’s governor, had come to the scene to express his condolences to the community as a whole and the local church.

The victims and relatives of those who lost loved ones received donations of relief supplies and money.

Akeredolu revealed that work on a memorial garden to honour the assault victims has started in March 2023.

The governor of the state is an indigene of the town.
