A tragic accident on the Agaie-Lapai Road in Niger State has claimed four lives and left 13 others injured.

The fatal collision occurred near Al’Farma International School in Agaie Local Government Area and involved three trailer trucks, one of which was carrying livestock.

According to a statement by the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba-Arah, the accident was caused by improper overtaking.

The collision’s impact was severe, with two individuals dying instantly at the scene, while the others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

 

In addition to the human casualties, the crash also led to the deaths of about 15 cattle and more than 20 goats. The injured victims were quickly rushed to Agaie General Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

 

Emergency response teams, including NSEMA’s Agaie desk officer and local volunteers, promptly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations. Their swift intervention helped transport the injured to the hospital and clear the wreckage from the road.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid reckless driving to prevent such tragic incidents. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
