Promise Nwosu, the 28-year-old who is seeking to create a world record, arrived in the South-South state of Rivers State this afternoon following a five-day walk from Lagos State in South-West Nigeria.

Promise, who is from Rivers State’s Emohua Local Government Area but goes by “Wene Port Harcourt” on social media, hopes to set a Guinness World Record for the most distance completed on foot.

He set out from the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State on October 17 and arrived at his destination, the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The expected distance is 606 km.

While in Port Harcourt, the potential World Record breaker got cheers from residents as he walked along the streets.

He was accompanied by the cheering crowd as he arrived at the Government House gate where he was received by officials of the Rivers State Government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Governor Fubara in his address commended the courage of the 28-year-old and urged other youths to dispense their energies in meaningful ventures.

The Governor promised to do “something special” for him on Monday.

He said it was exciting to hear about his adventure amidst the recent stories of insecurity in the state.

With the marathon now completed, the Guinness World Records is expected to preview the exercise and give a verdict sooner or later.
