Most Reverend George Jonathan Dodo, the Catholic Bishop of Zaria Diocese in Kaduna State, has passed away.
After a brief illness, Dodo, the first Bishop of the Diocese, was reported to have passed away early on Friday.
The clergyman’s passing was confirmed in a statement released on Friday in Kaduna by Reverend Father Abraham Bisan Make, the Diocesan Vice-Chancellor of Zaria.
The announcement asked everyone to pray for “his peaceful repose” and promised to let everyone know when “information regarding his burial will be announced as soon as possible.”
The brief statement read, “With gratitude to God I have been directed to announce the passing unto glory of our Bishop, Most Rev. George Jonathan Dodo, the pioneer Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria.
“This sad event took place in the early hours of Friday, July 8, 2022, after a brief illness.
“While we enjoin all to pray for his peaceful repose, information regarding his burial will be announced as soon as possible.”
