Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim met with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Anyim was the 9th President of the Senate from 2000 to 2003 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
He just left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, accompanied Anyim to his meeting with Tinubu.
Briefing journalists following the meeting, the former SGF stated that he joined the ruling party to give his quota to the country’s progress.
He expressed his commitment to Nigeria’s progress, saying, “There is a need for all of us to work together to move the country forward.”
“I am determined to ensure that the country continues on the correct road, and I should be available to give my quota.
“Contributing quota does not necessarily imply working, but rather creating a conducive environment for progress; I am not looking for work.”
“However, given the issues that the country is currently facing, we must all work together to take the country forward.
“The country is passing through turbulent times and it is the duty of all patriots to ensure a peaceful atmosphere,” he told reporters.
