Plateau governor lifts curfew on Mangu LGA after five months

The curfew imposed on Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State following violent attacks has been lifted five months after the order was issued.

In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, it was announced that Governor Caleb Mutfwang decided to lift the curfew after careful consultation with the state security council, noting the return of normalcy to the affected communities.

The decision also aims to allow residents to resume agricultural and economic activities.

Governor Mutfwang encouraged community leaders of all faiths and ethnicities to continue engaging in strategic dialogue, fostering trust, tolerance, and better understanding among the people.

Residents were urged to embrace peace, unity, and to support each other to promote peaceful coexistence in their communities.

The governor also expressed deep gratitude to the security agencies in and beyond the state for their sacrifices and tireless efforts in addressing the issues and urged them to continue monitoring and maintaining law and order across the state’s seventeen local government areas.
