Police arrest 19 for Phone snatching, theft in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has arrested 19 suspected phone snatchers and thugs in a sting operation led by ACP Aliyu Rabah.

Following orders from Commissioner of Police Shawulu Danmamman, the operation targeted crime hotspots in Minna, such as New Market, Sauka-Kahuta, Soje, and Kpakungu.

The suspects, aged between 15 and 29, were found with dangerous weapons, including axes, cutlasses, knives, an iron rod, charms, and cannabis. They are currently under investigation and will face prosecution.

Vehicle Theft Arrest

In a separate incident, police in Chanchaga Division apprehended a suspect with a stolen white Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. LFA 799 ST).

The vehicle had been stolen on January 31, 2025, in Tunga, Minna, and was intercepted at City Gate as the suspect attempted to transport it to Kaduna for sale.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers and encouraged them to continue working towards making Niger State crime-free.
