The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 47 suspects as part of efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

Briefing journalists in Ikeja on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai said the command also recovered weapons and stolen vehicles within two weeks of his assumption of office.

“It is with a great sense of professional fulfilment that I stand before you today to present the achievements of the Lagos State Police Command since my assumption of duty as Commissioner of Police,” he said.

According to him, the operations led to the recovery of 14 firearms—10 locally made and four pump-action guns—alongside 96 rounds of 5.2mm live ammunition, 29 live cartridges, and one expended cartridge.

Other items recovered include 14 vehicles, two laptops, 29 mobile phones, a flash drive, and additional incriminating materials.

Fatai noted that the exhibits were retrieved from various crime scenes involving armed robbery, cultism, conspiracy, theft, threats to life, and unlawful possession of firearms.

He added that the results were achieved through intelligence-led strategies and collaboration with the community.

Providing an update on the recent Easter celebrations, the commissioner said no major security breach was recorded across the state.

He attributed this to proactive deployment of personnel and strategic positioning of operational assets at key locations, including worship centres, recreational venues, highways, and other public spaces.

Fatai reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining safety, stating that efforts would continue to focus on intelligence-driven operations, visible policing, and strengthened community engagement.

“All suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he added, warning that the command would not tolerate criminal activities.
