It stated that his exoneration followed on going investigation, urging members of the public to disregard any earlier suspicion against him.

Ikenga said the suspect would remain in police custody while the investigation continues, particularly into his alleged involvement in other related criminal incidents.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Oji Ama, was full of commendation for the people of Alor for their cooperation, patience and support throughout the investigation.

“He particularly appreciates members of the community who provided timely and useful information that contributed to this significant breakthrough.

“The Commissioner reiterates that the Command will continue to pursue every credible lead in the investigation and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law”, he said.

He reiterated that Anambra State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property, strengthening public confidence in policing, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes do not escape justice.
