The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of armed robbery and kidnapping, and recovered a pump-action gun along with a black Toyota Camry bearing the registration number SMK 835 FC during the operation.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, officers from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu made the arrests on September 24, following credible intelligence.
Ikenga revealed that the suspects — all male and aged between 22 and 40 — were identified as Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam, and Onyebuchi Udemba. They were arrested in Aguleri, located in Anambra East Local Government Area.
The statement read in part, “Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in the early hours of September 24, 2025, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Aguleri and arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in the area.
“The suspects, all males between the ages of 22 and 40 years, include: Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam and Onyebuchi Udemba.
“During the Operations, one pump-action gun and one black Toyota Camry car with registration. No. SMK 835 FC were recovered.
“To this end, while the suspects are still undergoing interrogation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirms the Command’s commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no hiding place in the State.
“He further urged members of the public to continue to provide timely information to the Police to aid in the fight against crime.”
According to him, the case shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigations.
