Police arrest murder, armed robbery suspects in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested three individuals suspected of killing two persons believed to be members of a cult group from Eyo-Abasi in the Mbo Local Government Area.

Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, revealed this during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Uyo. He explained that after committing the crime, the suspects hid in a ravine in the village.

However, following intelligence gathering, police operatives apprehended them on October 16, 2024.

Additionally, on October 17, the police arrested two suspects for stealing a Jenbei Hiase bus parked on Akpa Ube Street in Uyo due to a minor mechanical issue.

The suspects were tracked to Mechanic Village along Abak Road, where they had dismantled the bus.

Eribo further reported that on October 6, four suspected armed robbers were arrested along Idoro Road in Uyo, with firearms found in their possession. All suspects will be charged in court once investigations are completed.

The Commissioner of Police urged criminals to abandon their unlawful activities, warning that the state is no longer safe for such acts.

He also called on residents to provide credible information about criminals within their communities to assist the police in maintaining peace and safety in Akwa Ibom.
