The Kano State Police Command has made notable headway in the investigation concerning the abduction and fatal incident involving Bello Bukar Adam, an employee of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).

The occurrence, which took place on the 4th of May, stirred apprehension within the community, leaving residents unsettled.

As detailed in a press statement released by the Kano State Police Command on Thursday, the victim, 45-year-old Bello Bukar Adam, departed from his residence in Zawaciki Housing Estate, Kano, driving his Toyota Corolla vehicle, only to vanish without a trace.

However, on the same evening, the lifeless body of an adult male was discovered abandoned on the outskirts of the Eastern Bypass, near Bechi Village in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel swiftly mobilized a team of detectives led by Aliyu Mohammed Auwal, the officer in charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, with the aim of apprehending the perpetrator(s) within 24 hours.

The team’s concerted efforts yielded results when they arrested Sadiq Zubairu, aged 35, of Hotoron Arewa Quarters, Nassarawa Local Government Area, on the 6th of May at 9:00 am.

In a surprising admission, the suspect confessed to colluding with two accomplices to entice the victim to his residence under false pretenses of offering a job opportunity.

Upon realizing his inability to fulfill his promise, the suspect resorted to violence, resulting in the tragic demise of Bello Bukar Adam.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, quoted the suspect as saying, “He tied him up, hit him with sticks and sharp iron on his head and other parts of his body until he became motionless.”

The suspect also admitted to discarding the victim’s remains along the Eastern Bypass, as well as stealing his motor vehicle and mobile phone. The motive behind the crime was disclosed to be financial, as the suspect had fraudulently acquired three million naira from the victim.

In extending condolences to the bereaved family, the commissioner reiterated the Kano State Police Command’s dedication to combating crime and safeguarding the well-being of all residents.

He urged the public to stay vigilant and report any dubious activities to the nearest police station or via the various emergency contact numbers and online platforms provided by the Kano State Police Command.
