The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspect accused of impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The suspect was apprehended on October 20, 2026, after police operatives intercepted a Lexus LX570 SUV displaying a counterfeit Presidency number plate in Maitama District, Abuja.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday.
Adeh said the suspect and the vehicle were immediately taken into custody for investigation and possible prosecution.
She said preliminary investigations revealed that the concealed number plate bore the inscription ‘PRESIDENCY’ and registration number 10B218 FG.
Adeh added that although the suspect claimed to be the legitimate holder of the number plate, further investigations established that the registration documents were forged.
The police spokesperson said the suspect was also found to have allegedly impersonated a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
