Ten alleged gun manufacturers have been detained by Delta State Police Command operatives in the Emuhu Community of the state’s Ika North-East Local Government Area.

According to reports, the arrest followed reliable information about the organization that specializes in producing firearms and other weapons locally.

According to information obtained, the State Anti-Cult Unit was instructed by the Commissioner of Police for the State Command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, to conduct extensive operations in the mentioned region.

As a result, on October 31, 2022, the team headed by Commander SACU, SP Christopher Igbaji, raided the hideout in Emuhu Community, Ika North-East LGA. During this raid, 42 locally made single barrel guns, six double barrel guns, three pump action guns, two filing machines, and a toolbox containing fabricated working materials were discovered.

Together with the evidence, Peter Okolie (58), the alleged ringleader, and nine other people from Agba Quarters Emuhu were taken into custody.

Bright Edafe, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the incident and informed journalists that all the suspects are currently being held while an investigation is being conducted.

The Command will not give up in the fight against crime and criminality, the Commissioner of Police has remarked while commending the team for the successful operation.

The CP stated that “community police and proactive policing are crucial in this struggle.”

He exhorted everyone to continue collaborating with the Command by providing pertinent, timely, and reliable information that will aid the Command in preventing crime.
