Police begin investigation of suspected cultist in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, has handed over Kabiru Adedotun, also known as K.B, a suspected notorious member of the Eye Confraternity causing unrest in Ogun communities, along with a recovered cut-to-size pistol. The transfer was made to the Nigeria Police Force, Monitoring Unit, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with the intention of subsequent conveyance to the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, for thorough investigation and potential prosecution.

The information was conveyed in a statement released on Sunday from the Office of the State Commander of the corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

According to the statement, the corps’ tactical squad, during a routine patrol, received information that prompted them to pursue the suspected cultist. Subsequently, he was promptly apprehended, and a cut-to-size pistol was discovered in his residence at Totoro, Abeokuta, situated in the Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect allegedly confessed to engaging in various criminal activities in the state.

The security agency further clarified that both the suspect and the recovered exhibit had been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Monitoring Unit, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for subsequent conveyance to the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, for additional investigation and potential prosecution.

The statement partly reads, “The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested one Kabiru Adedotun, popularly called K.B, a suspected notorious Eye Confraternity cultist terrorising Ogun communities, while recovering a cut-to-size pistol from him.

“This is contained in a press statement issued from the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf on Sunday.

“The statement disclosed that the tactical squad of the corps, while on a routine patrol, got information, which led the team to go after the suspected cultist, Kabiru Adedotun,

“He was promptly arrested and a cut-to-size pistol was recovered from him in his room at Totoro, Abeokuta, in the Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun

“The statement also read that at the time of the arrest, the suspect confessed to have involved in a number of criminal activities in the state.

“Ganzallo noted that during the preliminary investigation of the act, the suspected deadly cultist mentioned some names who were members of his gang.

“Ganzallo further explained that the suspect and the exhibit recovered from him had been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Monitoring Unit, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta for onward  transfer to the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran for further investigation and likely prosecution.”

According to report, it was highlighted that the police in the Ado-Odo Ota area of the state arrested a suspected cultist after two individuals, yet to be identified, were allegedly killed by suspected cultists in Ota on Wednesday.

Information gathered from an unnamed eyewitness revealed that the two individuals lost their lives as a result of a clash between rival cult groups in the area.
