Police confirm kidnap of Dangote cement workers

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of a huge number of people believed to be Dangote Cement Company employees in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area, the state.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the Command’s spokeswoman, acknowledged the event and stated that rescue activities for the kidnapped people are ongoing.

The workers were kidnapped on Monday evening in the Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.

The state’s police spokesperson stated that when the Divisional Police Officer of Okpella Division received information about the occurrence, he summoned a team of operatives for a bush-combing expedition.

He said policemen were joined in the exercise by soldiers, vigilantes and hunters.

According to Nwabuzor, some of the kidnap victims have been rescued.

The command said it would provide more details on the incident as events unfold.
