The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a 60-year-old headmaster, Mr Matthew Owoade, in Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a text message sent to journalists in Ibadan on Monday.
According to Ayanlade, Owoade, the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School (NBS), Ogodu, Igbojaye, was abducted around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday while returning from his farm at Budo Aare.
He confirmed that efforts were ongoing to rescue the headmaster and apprehend those behind the abduction.
“The son further said that the abductors had contacted the family and demanded for N30 million ransom.” the police spokesperson said.”
The victims son, Mr Abiola Owoade explained that the gunmen intercepted and whisked his father away to an unknown destination
