The Police Command in Niger has confirmed the killing of Dr. Funmilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, by an alleged attacker.
This information was disclosed in a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, on Monday in Minna.
Abiodun specified that the incident took place on Sunday when the victim was fatally attacked in her residence in the Gbaiko area of Minna.
“On Oct. 29, at about 1000hrs, some friends of Dr Funmilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at FUT Minna, visited her residence in the Gbaiko Area of Minna due to their inability to get her on the phone.
“Unfortunately, on getting to the house, the visitors met her lying in a pool of her own blood with marks of injury on her body,” he said.
He mentioned that two knives bearing bloodstains, believed to have been employed by unidentified individuals in her stabbing, were discovered at the location.
The spokesperson added that the deceased’s body was transported to the Ibrahim Babangida Specialist Hospital in Minna, where her demise was confirmed.
He further stated that the police have initiated an inquiry into the occurrence.
