Police confirm man’s death at beer parlor in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has verified the sudden passing of a man who visited a beer parlour in the state to watch television.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the press on Sunday.

Hundeyin stated that the proprietor of the beer parlour, whose identity was not disclosed, reported the incident to the Elere Police Division on Wednesday around 7:00 p.m.

He mentioned that according to the report, a customer (now deceased), whose name and address were still unknown, aged in his 50s, entered the beer parlour situated along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway at approximately 6:15 p.m.

The spokesperson added that the bar owner explained that the customer entered the open bar to watch television, similar to other patrons, while some were drinking.

“He was later observed to be sleeping on the chair and there was an attempt to wake him up, but they discovered that he was lifeless.

“The scene was visited by detectives of the division and the body was seen lifeless on the chair without any mark of violence.

“The body has been removed to Mainland General Hospital Mortuary Yaba,  Lagos for autopsy. Efforts to trace his  family is in progress,” he said.
