The Nigeria Police Force has directed two unidentified police constables from Jimeta Police Division in Adamawa State to report to the Force Provost for disciplinary actions due to their improper conduct during the convention and election event arranged by the National Union of Adamawa State Students on September 4 and 5, 2023.

The video circulating on social media depicted the police constables escorting the vehicle of the recently elected Students Union President

However, in response to this incident on Monday, the Force Headquarters stated that the two officers exceeded their assigned duties and the intended purpose of their deployment to the Students Union event. They emphasized that these actions were deemed unacceptable and contrary to the principles upheld by the NPF.

Using his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced that both police constables and their superiors have been called to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for necessary measures.

Adejobi said, “We are committed to maintaining professionalism and upholding the dignity of the Nigeria Police Force. Regarding the recent incident involving two constables escorting a student union president in Adamawa State, their actions were unacceptable and do not represent the values of our force.”

“The officers attached to Jimeta Divisional Police Command, along with their superiors, have been summoned to the Force Headquarters for appropriate action. It’s important to note that they were deployed to maintain peace and security during the convention and electoral process organized by the National Union of Adamawa State Students on the 4th and 5th of September, 2023. Their actions were not in line with the purpose for which they were deployed. They have both been referred to the Force Provost for further disciplinary actions.”
