A housewife was killed and her husband was wounded by gunmen in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, on Sunday.
The spokesman of the state Police Command, SP Usman Abdullahi, shared details of the regrettable event with Daily Trust during a phone conversation.
The incident happened at the Mile 6 area of Jalingo metropolis of the state.
Abdullahi said that the attackers broke into the home of Mr. Balanko Gamalia and shot him and his wife in an attempt to kidnap them.
The wife was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband is being treated for his injuries at a hospital in Jalingo. Abdullahi added that two people, including a woman, were abducted from the house.
Abdullahi noted that the police are on the trail of the kidnappers.
The police spokesman appealed to members of the public to provide information that could help the police track down criminals.
