Police nab 21 suspected armed robbers, cultists in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended 21 suspects linked to recent killings and other criminal activities in the region.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), four individuals, including a motorcycle ticket agent, were recently gunned down by assailants in various parts of Ado-Ekiti.

DSP Sunday Abutu, the spokesperson for the command, stated on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti that the arrests were made following a thorough investigation. He revealed that the suspects were detained for their alleged involvement in armed robbery and cultism.

Abutu clarified that the individuals were associated with different cult groups, engaging in retaliatory violence within their factions, notably mentioning the ‘Eiye Confraternity’ among them. Furthermore, police inquiries indicated that some suspects, including members of a notorious cult group reportedly from Plateau State, were involved in the incidents.

The spokesperson assured that the suspects would soon face legal proceedings and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to prevent crime.
